Walk visibility
11th July 2025
Dear Customer
As you are aware, Ofcom has been consulting on the future of the Universal Service. Since the publication of Ofcom’s consultation in January 2025 we have been discussing with key stakeholders their specific requirements around data, and what customers would find helpful.
In response to these discussions, Royal Mail identified a common requirement in providing customers with visibility of Royal Mail’s forward-looking schedule for every delivery point in the UK. In response to this, ‘Walk Visibility’ is being developed to help brands with the planning of their campaign activity by having greater insight about the expected delivery days for their mail.
We will implement Walk Visibility after the Universal Service changes and the new regulations come into force.
We are seeking to make the files available as soon as possible after the regulations change, and to that end we are testing functionality using dummy data files from today. To access these data files, you will need to extract them from a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) site, which is available now. We will switch to the live data files after the USO changes are deployed. Until that point, this data will remain in test format.
The setup process takes ten days. If you would like to register to gain access to the site and the test files within, please provide the following information by completing the form and sending it to walkvisibility@royalmail.com:
a. Name, email address and contact number of the relevant person for Contact and Support issues;
b. The IP address (or range) for the server you will use to connect to the SFTP site; and
c. The DNS address of the server, if applicable.
