What is Royal Mail’s Quality Assurance Process?
Before you start using our machine-readable letter or large letter services or sending sorted packets for the first time, we check that the mail:
- 1) is addressed according to Royal Mail’s requirements.
- 2) is produced in the correct format, which can pass through Royal Mail’s machines.
Which Royal Mail products require a quality assurance check?
In order to be accredited, you need to pass a quality assurance check for the following products

How do I apply?
- For Mailmark Large Letter Barcode Quality and Item Design please complete the dedicated form.
- For all other quality assurance applications please complete our online form which captures the required information we need from you to start the process.
- Although customers new to Mailmark do not need to have accreditation, we would still recommend all customers to take advantage of our checking service. You need to send us 200 fully addressed, filled and sealed mail pieces with the appropriate indicia and Mailmark. If you would like to do this, please complete the dedicated form and return it to us with your items.
